Bio

My name is Mary Coburn. I was born in Whittier, California, on April 18, 1993. My

mother, my siblings, and I moved to Medina County, Texas when I was 5-weeks old. We have

been members of Leon Valley Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas for over 27 years.

I had great examples in my own family of full-time service for Christ: my maternal

grandparents, BMM missionaries Bill and Lou Patterson; my paternal grandparents, Pastor

Frank and Marjorie Coburn; and even my own parents served as missionaries for two years.

My mother, Sheryl Coburn, had a desire that all 5 of us kids would grow up to love God with all

our hearts and to serve Him. I do believe God has honored her years of sacrifice and service

for Him.

I was saved in the spring of 1998. I surrendered to go into full-time Christian service on

July 3, 2009. After high-school, I completed Faith Bible Institute. I then completed a BA in

Biblical Counseling at Bob Jones University. After graduation, I interned for 4-months

with Baptist Mid-Missions missionaries, Glen and Tammy Galbraith, in Havant, England.

The following summer, I served alongside the Houghtens, Boelmans, Galbraiths, and

others during a 5-week missions survey trip in England.

For two years, I taught first-grade at Leon Valley Christian Academy. I am currently

traveling on deputation as a missionary appointee with BMM. I will be serving alongside

BMM missionaries in the UK. During my 3 trips to England, I visited 11 churches: only 5

churches had kids, only 4 churches had teens, and only 3 churches had any kind of ladies’ Bible

study. My desire is to begin and build-up ladies’ Bible studies, teen ministries, and children’s

Bible clubs throughout the UK.
